How to choose the right size of lampshade
There are no strict rules for choosing the correct shape and size of shade although here are a few useful things to consider.
Always go on the larger size and make sure that the shade is tall enough to cover the lamp base fittings.
2. The lampshade width should be wider than the widest part of the lamp base.
3. I advise you try other lampshades from around your home to give you a good idea of proportions and visualising the design. Even if they are the wrong size you can get a better idea of what will look good.
Due to the size of paper I work with, I’ve kept my range of lampshade dimensions to four standard sizes, shown below.
However, I can make larger lampshades. These would require 2 sheets of paper and therefore there will be an additional seam.
If ordering a larger lampshade in a block print design, I can print the design onto a paper roll so there will only be one seam. I recommend sending a sample for your approval as the paper quality will be slightly different.

Lampshade fittings
How does the shade attach to the base?
Candle Clip fitting
The MINI and SMALL lampshades use the CANDLE CLIP fitting. The shade just clips onto a candle shaped lightbulb. This is perfect for wall lights and slim lamp bases.
Duplex fitting
The MEDUIM and LARGE lampshades use the DUPLEX fitting. This is suitable to use with both UK and European lamp holders. Each lampshade comes with a standard 10cm | 4” shade carrier. The shade carrier connects the lampshade to the lamp base giving you easy access to maintain and clean your light. It also controls the height between the lampshade and the lamp base. If you need a taller shade carrier, please add a note to your order at the check out or email me at info@annavojtisek.com to discuss your fitting requirements.
Lightbulbs
I recommend using energy saving light bulbs up to 60W max. I find opaque lightbulbs give a more diffused light, hiding the lampshade wiring.
USA Lampshade fittings
If you require fittings for the USA, please add a note to your order at the check out or email me at info@annavojtisek.com, we can discuss your details further.
Lampshade love and care
I recommend keeping your shade out of direct sunlight. Gently wipe with a dry cloth if it appears dusty.
